Lightbulb Nvidia + Wine + PC Extinction = buggy textures

    Sup,

copy and paste from here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/321360...6851154761778/

I just tested this title via vanilla Wine 1.7 & Crossover 14 using the following Desktop system:

    Ubuntu 14.04.1 64-bit
    Phenom II X4 955
MSI Geforce 650 TI OC 2GB GDDR5 (proprietary driver 331.113 -updates repo)
    HD 7850 1 GB GDDR5
8 GB DDR3 Corsair XMS RAM
    256GB Samsung Evo SSD

I also tested it on my Laptop:

    openSUSE 13.2 64-bit
    Core i5
    Geforce 525M 2GB DDR3 (newest proprietary driver 346.x)
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    500GB 7200 RPM HDD

I recommend playing in fullscreen mode when using the desktop environments Unity or KDE, in order to bypass the desktop composition and enhance performance (which Unity does at default, in KDE you have to activate this feature manually). It runs just fine in fullscreen mode, performance is very good if you use the CSMT patches for vanilla Wine or if you activate the "performance enhanced graphics" in Crossover 14 for your Steam bottle. Stability is great, haven't had a single crash yet.

Vanilla Wine: Install either 1.6.2 (stable) or 1.7.x (dev), use Winetricks to install Steam, install the game normally via Steam. I recommend using a 32-bit prefix, if you encounter any issues (you will be warned about this when using Winetricks anyway). If performance is OK... that's fine, if not; use the CSMT patches to enhance performance. CSMT can literally double your framerate.

Crossover 14: Download the latest version for your destribution, select and install Steam from the list of supported apps, install this game. No need for CSMT, no need for a 32-bit prefix, both "features" are already active at default.

AMD: No issues so far with both the open and proprietary drivers.

NVIDIA: Flickering, black texture issue with the proprietary driver. See here for more information: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/t...ack-textures-/

OpenGL: I also noticed the game actually has an OpenGL mode, but activating it results in a crash + error. I dunno why yet, but it would be sweet if we could enable the OpenGL mode somehow. You can find it here: http://fs1.directupload.net/images/150128/ht5ktmku.png

    Cheers,
    Soniee
